Tropical Storm Emily Update

Published on August 4, 2011 by in Uncategorized

Lots of rain, but thankfully not much wind!   My house is not near a river, so I have no need to evacuate due to flooding.

There was already a tremendous amount of mud in Cercadillo before this storm, so it’s hard to imagine what it’s like out there today.  I keep thinking about the families huddled under leaky tin roofs.

I would guess that with all the rain last night and the continual rain today that the river is over the bridge.  The road is most likely impassible in at least two other places due to water accumulation.   The Toyota 4-Runner has been magnificent on the muddy roads that other vehicles can’t manouver, but since it isn’t equipped to float :), I doubt that I’ll be able to make it out to the village tomorrow.    If I don’t make it to the village I think I’ll try to go pester the government organization that promised to put in wells for us, but so far hasn’t.   Pray for productive pestering!
