Welcome to Brigida Peralta!

Published on January 25, 2011 by in Uncategorized

Welcome Brigida Peralta, our new ministry assistant!

It is with much excitement that we are announcing that Brigida will be working part time with us.   She has been volunteering with us for the past six months and was a key person in continuing the work in the village while I was in the States last fall.  With 12 years of experience working with children and many administrative skills, we believe that Brigida will be a great asset to our ministry in Cercadillo.

Brigida is from Villa Mella, the area where I live.  She graduated from UASD, a Dominican university, with a degree in marketing, has traveled to the US and completed a study abroad English program in India.  She directs the International Language Institute in Villa Mella, leads a children’s ministry in Yamasa, and sells car insurance as well as being a very active member of her church, Iglesia Bautista Internacional!

Three Kings Day – Round Two

Published on January 11, 2011 by in Uncategorized

If there is a limit to how much fun a group of people can have in one day, we may have surpassed it in Cercadillo yesterday.

First we had a party for preschoolers. . .

Lots of gifts and prizes!

Happy preschoolers with...

happy feet in their new flipflops.

Then it was time for the children to come.

Playing "Christmas Bingo" - their second most favorite game.

Their most favorite game - musical chairs.

Although everyone was excited about their new flipflops (Thank you, Trinity Baptist Church in Aurora, CO) one boy was especially thankful.  Look closely at the picture below and you’ll see the holes in the sandals he had been wearing.  He threw his old sandals into the grass and in less than a minute someone who was watching the party picked up the old sandals and started wearing them.

Thanks to everyone who sent school supplies, coloring books, toys and little gifts. And thanks so much for supporting me so that I have the incredible privilege of being here!
