This past Sunday we had a day of “thanks-giving” and then we celebrated with a huge sheet cake. I wish you could have heard the screaming when I brought the cake out of the vehicle!
First we recognized those who had received their “cedulas” (Dominican ID cards) this year.
Then those who successfully completed 8th grade this year,
… those who graduated from high school this year, (Graduation is in September and since I was in the States we waited until now to celebrate.)
. . . and those with birthdays from September through December. What a great time! Of course the hope is that as education is celebrated, more will be encouraged to complete high school.
Did we get some mileage out of that sheet cake, or what? 🙂
